Jim was born and raised in Lexington; he grew up just outside of town on his family's dairy and beef cattle farm. His ancestors settled in Rockbridge County before 1750, and his family has lived here continually since then. With his wife Jeri, a real estate agent with his firm, and son Will, Jim enjoys outdoor recreation, traveling and farming.
Jim is one of only 22 REALTORS in Virginia to be awarded the coveted Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) professional designation and he also holds the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) & Graduate, REALTOR'S Institute (GRI) designations. Jim has been full-time in the real estate business since 1974. He prides himself on building long-term relationships with his clients. Many of Jim's closest friends today, from far and near, got to know him when he was their real estate agent.
His experience includes successfully marketing land, farms, and commercial & residential properties throughout the Shenandoah Valley and Western Virginia. A consistent producer of multi-million dollar sales volume, Jim is affiliated with a network of Associates throughout Virginia and the United States.
Jim has also been active in his community, having served on the Board of Directors of the Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the United Way Campaign, Charter member of Lexington Downtown Development Association, President of the Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees, Church Trustee, President of LBVR Association of Realtors & President of the Virginia REALTOR'S Land Institute.
